How Does A Web App Differ From A Native App?

The Basics
Attendees choosing the web app for your event will benefit from the same content and interactive options available through the Eventmobi app on iOS and Android devices (or your custom native app if your event has one).

The web app is installed by accessing eventmobi.com/eventcode into a browser. Users can add a home screen bookmark to quickly relaunch the app when needed. The EventMobi app is instead installed via a Smart Launch page available at eventmobi.com/app/eventcode, which will direct the user to the correct app store for their device type (Apple or Android). Your event will automatically launch once the EventMobi app has been downloaded. 

Although both provide offline access to your event’s content, only people using the EventMobi app will receive push notifications.

Offline Access 
Your event information will be downloaded for offline access for both the EventMobi app and web app. How long this content remains available for web app users is dependent on their browser’s cache system and available storage. 

Custom Branded Apps and Event Pages
If you have opted to create a single custom branded app or a custom branded event page, then a different process and timeline to distributing your event information will apply. These apps will need to be submitted and hosted under your own developer account which may require a timeline of 4-8 weeks in total. 

If you are hosting just one event that will need to be made accessible from the app stores, then you will need to ensure that the app branding is complete, and content has been added to any visible sections before submitting for approval. When this step is complete, you will have a file created from our App Release Coordinator which can be submitted to the Apple App and Google Play stores. Alternatively, you can choose to distribute a custom branded app privately if need be. 

If you will be hosting multiple events throughout the year, then a Custom Branded Event Page will be established for you, where the information for your various events can be accessed from one single app. In this case, a file will also need to be created by our Native App Release Specialist to allow you to submit the app and make it available for download within the Apple App and Google Play stores.
